listen to album here: boburnham.lnk.to/INSIDE inside now streaming on netflix. hope you enjoy.
Damn the art directing in this is crazy good
1:12 I have one of these in my bathroom... I finally feel whole and seen in my white womanhood.
nice shoulders, Bo
What’s with the extremely dark backstory 😅? Great song, I’m just a little confused
Lucky that we have somebody like Bo. Because we get yes great music, comedy, but also important humans messages. If someone else made this song, he/she probably would've dove it from a cynical perspective, but you put a very important part in it, which makes us remember we all are struggling in this world. And that no matter what we might think of what people post - we really should always keep in mind not to think of any other as less of a human. Thank you. I hope you're happy.
"and i cant grow a beard".... Hes finally done it :)
I love you bo
1.7k dislikes lmfao... He got the white girls mad with this one 🙄
Well, Bo´s next special is probably after 5 years of trauma therapy.
bo lowkey looks so good with a choker
As an italian guy who stepped on the "welcome to the internet" video for mistake at 3a.m. without knowing who bo burnham was I definetly recommend you to see this special. Believe me.

Yes… it’s all the brilliant, thoughtful things people say but can we talk about the amount of earworms and how amazing the vocals are? Impressive work sir! Glad to see the album is out so I can stop listening on Netflix.
Glad to see you back Bo!
Best song from Inside
Bruh forgot bout the title the second time I listened to this, and convinced myself this was about a wide woman's Instagram
This shit made me cry a little
I'm wearing fuzzy comfy socks, thank god I'm not a female or I would be pretty self conscious about now!!!
Ya gotta do one of these for that "Evil HR Lady" that everyone knows
We're all just mad because he pulls it of so much better XD
I disagree with the prevailing iterpretation that Bo's in some way trying to present this phenomenon as vapid. Some of the lyrics certainly speak to that, yes -- such as the lyric about derivative political street art -- but many others range between simple mediocrity and outright comforting or heartwarming moments. I don't think he's trying to imply that this is necessary an inherently negative phenomenon, nor that it's a waste of time. Instead, he's viewing the phenomenon as a coping mechanism for flawed or broken people who get themselves through the days by essentially maintaining a scrapbooking hobby. Yes, there's commentary about what's left out behind-the-scenes, but he also makes it a point to show that even what's left _in_ can provide some pretty meaningful insight into the person behind the account. It presents a picture of a thoroughly average, rough-around-the-edges person who occasionally whiffs a post or two and doesn't always have something earth-shattering to share. To me, it seems more akin to an analysis of graffiti -- it implies that the person behind the work just wants to leave evidence that they were here for someone to see.
BO WITH A BEARD! I REPEAT: BO WITH A BEARD!
There’s so many screenshots of bo to paint here lol
'The salted pork is particularly good' -mlk
Oh Bo, you have things to say about self absorbed, but ultimately sympathetic white people who try to, for a creative outlet, turn their life during the pandemic into consumable content for an audience... ...wait a second...
Don't have to do a 23andme anymore
The pretty james noticeably drop because confirmation postnatally change including a difficult turret. wild, good plastic
This is hilarious but also low hanging fruit 🤣
This song makes fun of a lot of stupid things young women do on instagram, and then it just opens the whole song up in those few lines of her mom (not to mention the literal opening up with the changing in aspect ratio). More character development than some movies.
Saw some people analysing this song, so I thought it could be fun to do as well. Some speculated that this is all one person, but it could also be numerous women's as we have all seen a couple of these type of posts on our own feed. And thats the point. All of these posts are creative, poetic and artistic but generic, which shows that the person posting them is neither creative, poetic nor artistic, they just want to appear so. This is very apparent in the MLK/LotR quote, as the person posting it didn't have enough of an interest to even google it first. They are more concerned with appearing socially just than actually being socially just. The entire song climaxes at the woman's message to her late mother. Thats when we realize that this is an actual personal and hearfelt message, hence why the camera format slowly changes as we are brought out of the superficial world of Instagram. That is until we realize that this is an Instagram post, and that she has made her personal message to her late mother into a social commodity she can sell for social currency (likes and attention). Therefore, the format changes back to the Instagram format and the song continues with generic white girl posts.
All of inside is just “how could you say something so offensive that i 100% agree with”
i think he does a really good job of balancing satire with a certain empathy
The song also tells of the white woman's relationship. In the first verse, there's "a couple holding hands". In the bridge, the woman says "Momma, I got a boyfriend, and I'm crazy about him". Then in the final verse, there's "Three little words, a couple of doves, And a ring on her finger from the person that she loves".
Bo makes me want to be a white woman!
1:59 Marc Maron?
I just found this channel and OMG!
This video looks like an A24 movie.
Aww he put so much effort into creating all the decor for this video. The all look really good!
Im drawing these
This is a really good song and I'm not necessarily saying this about this particular song, but I feel like a lot of white men say that they're making fun of white women specifically just as an excuse to be misogynistic. It would be sexist if they just say things about women, but since it's about specifically white women it's seen as funny and political commentary. It kind of reminds me a lot of those "basic teen girl starter packs" and how women can't really like anything without being made fun of. Obviously there are problems that should be addressed with a lot of the things in this song, for example the part about the dream catcher. I can imagine a song like this being a lot more valuable coming from a woman of color or even just a man of color. It just kind of rubs me the wrong way, idk does anyone else get this vibe?
It definitely can be read that way for sure, I think a more charitable reading is about the artificiality of that lifestyle and means of presentation. The song never explicitly condemns those things, in fact comparing them to heaven as though they are better than reality. Which is closer to my personal interpretation. But outside interpretting the work on its on terms, dudes being shitty about Woman's stuff is a reality of the internet and I think it is valid to bring up that concern and criticism. Art is always informed by context. I think ultimately it is up to you how you interpret the work and respond accordingly.
Bisexuality, here I come
2:26 i know probably no one cares and i may just be reading too much into it but i love how the aspect ratio changes here from Instagram to "reality". To me that means that the lyrics that are sung in the normal aspect ratio are lyrics that Bo relates to directly, but then when he stops relating to them it goes back. idk i just think thats cool
Mostly on point, but trashing people saying they miss their dead mom, seems not only harsh but also unfunny
I personally disagree with your take that it's trashing them. Taking Bo's work at face value really opens you up to misinterpreting the message of everything (ie; Can't Handle This from Make Happy is quite obviously not about overfilling a burrito) I think it's more of stripping back the "everything is perfect" façade that the character puts on, showing themselves as vulnerable and more real for a few moments before going back to acting like everything is 100% perfect and happy.
i am just so absolutely mortified yet awed at how he managed to be a better white woman than any other out there
I think this is about a white woman's Instagram.
My mom died in January and yes, yes I was this white woman 😂
"I have a dream" - Aragorn
If you actually consume this sort of media tho you realize that women of all races do this stuff... if anything it is probably more of an age thing or possibly class. But I guess calling out white women is kinda like the male version of a pumpkin spice candle.
Wow. I haven’t seen Bo in years and he has ripened into a full-blooded genius. God damn this is incredible lol..
White guy's Instagram is just a golf photo with his boys from 3 years ago
OMG hahaha this is exactly why I left mainstream social media haha
that bit about posting their favorite photo of their mom is really gonna make me cry at work
I had never even heard of Bo Burnham and then my daughter and I watched promising young woman which was great by the way I loved it and I loved the character he played didn't see any of it coming like he's such a great actor but this is great I am so glad she turned me on to him I've been watching these for a while and I've got a lot to go through so much for the rest of my afternoon 🙃🙃🙃
1.7k white women took this personally
This is fu¢k¡n GREAT 😂
The dislikes are from the butthurt white women
Yo!! I LOST IT LOL I don't have Instagram but so bloody accurate 😂😂😂😂
why bob have a better representation bout my instagram tham me??
remember when the aspect ratio of the song changes as soon as the character starts to be open and vulnerable and then immediately starts to close in again as she switches back to talking about her accomplishments?? me too, man, me too...
Haha now make fun of black people that will be hilarious
Bo was the white woman all along
Can you please caption this so that we can share it with deaf friends?
He makes me see that as a white woman I am a complete failure! I don't even have an Instagram, much less a white womans!!! I'm so sorry Mama!
I've rewatched Inside many times, but this song always hits close to home. My grandma recently passed and seeing my mom's grief rn makes the bridge get me every time
"They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!" MLK
"Toss me! But don't tell the elve" MLK
Okay, here I am ticking off myself to each and every description 😂😂😂
Me going through Instagram posts My mind: White woooooooommmaaaaannnnn
love your songs & comedy :) make me laugh even at the worst days.
Me: Haha this is so true about all the cliches Also Me: *these are such good ideas for posts 😳*
2:40 is when the camera opens up for the only time, to show their true self, before going straight back to the false self, coping mechanisms, and falseness in general of social media. The entire song is built around that segment and it's beautiful.
Getting me through a pretty dark period. Thank you Bo
Some men shouldn't grow beards.
@13strong No, im saying you're a d-bag... if you dont have something nice to say, why even say it... to feel better about yourself? He has his beard to coincide with his album "inside" which has to do the covid pandemic, where most people stayed inside and let themselves go a bit
@Dalzik So you agree he looks shit with a beard? Cool.
some people shouldn't leave youtube comments
Man this makes me SO happy to be white!
No spoiler, but its a good mental health awareness special he got there.
Dam this slaps - a huwhite whamen
I'm a late comer to Bo Burnham but he seems like a really intelligent, clever, and funny guy. I hope he's been doing better since the pandemic.
Dude the shift from the square to wide sceen and back again during the part about the mom gave me the absolute chills.. visual poetry
Opening up the real her for just that split split second.. 😙👌
Yeah, this is EXACTLY how you deprogram the last 2 generations of internet users xD Hey, white women, wtf is going on with you people??
Not to sound “I’m 14 and this is deep” but the way the frame widened when the person became more nuanced and sincere was so poignant.
Did this special fuck up anyone else for like 2 whole weeks after?
Lmao this is disturbingly true.
bo burn ham he's secretly trying to tell us that he burns ham
“They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard” - MLK
3:41 the shade lmao
It looks like he had so much fun doing this song.
"You'll have to toss me. Don't tell the elf" - Martin Luther King Jr.
“My preciouses” - Martin Luther King Jr
This is so effing phenomenal!! I've watched this 3 times since it came out! Amazing Bo!
isn't that just basic mysoginy ? lol ? im not even white but im confused as to why it's so funny to see a man mocking women for doing whatever the heck they want on instagram. Can men let women live ? y'all let this white man get way too comfortable.
@maria de la vega del sol there's a difference between nuanced comedy playing with stereotypes and blatant sexist "woman in kitchen" jokes. Also this is about online behaviour, not being a woman per se you perpetually offended crybaby
@Beef oh my god now you shut the f up, I know damn well it's comedy. It's just lowkey sexist comedy. I don't think my comment is that hard to understand. This video isn't even remotely funny. Like yeah white women indeed post like this, but there's nothing funny about it. Comedy should be more than reeanacting what ppl do unless it's funny in itself, which in that case, it isn't, so it only leaves us with a man mocking women for just doing stuff. Nothing original here, it's basic mysoginy.
My god shut up its comedy
Because white woman Instagram are funny
When you consider he shot and edited this all on his own. He really must have been just by himself a majority of the time for a long time, setting up, getting, and perfecting all these shots for just a few minutes of a full special
2:23 - 2:56 could easily be a Taylor Swift song
The alluring kale joly harm because humidity willy hand during a large tabletop. wistful, classy amusement
how tf was all this done in one room
